As the sun begins to set and the Gates of Heaven, according to tradition, prepare to close, our little ones – children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will march down the aisle of the sanctuary, each carrying a special Havdalah light. As the sanctuary lights are dimmed, we will say farewell to the High Holy Days and usher in the New Year. This ceremony will take place at about 7:15 PM on Yom Kippur Day, Wednesday September 23, immediately before the blowing of the shofar.
