Sisterhood Torah Fund Event

The Schechter Institute for Jewish Studies in Jerusalem is one of the five Conservative/Masorti seminaries across the world supported by the Torah Fund campaign of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism. That seminary and the Masorti movement in Israel are the focus of MBIEE Sisterhood’s 2019 Torah Fund event on Tuesday, June 18, at 6 pm.

  Following an Israeli dinner, Gideon Aronoff, executive director of the Masorti Foundation for Conservative Judaism in Israel, will speak about the flowering, the challenges and the future of Conservative Judaism in Israel . Our program is in concert with this year’s international theme for Torah Fund: Atid, or “future.” In fact, a beautiful pin/pendant on the Atid theme is the thank you gift from Women’s League for donors who make a Torah Fund gift of 10 chai ($180).

On June 18 we also will pay tribute to the past presidium of MBIEE Sisterhood. Sherry Kohn Eisman, Rebecca Gelman and Susan B. (Susie) Markowitz are our Woman of Achievement honorees.

Everyone who makes a gift of $18 (chai) or more to MBIEE Sisterhood’s Torah Fund campaign is invited to attend on June 18^th. Invitation packets, will contain information about the couvert for the suppertime event and the option for patron gifts, including gifts in honor of Susie, Sherry and Rebecca.

Donors who are MBIEE Sisterhood members and who contribute nine chai ($162) or more will be invited to a VIP Reception at 4:30 pm, just before the main Torah Fund program at 6 p.m. To be held in the KI Library, the VIP Reception will feature a conversation with Rabbi Moriah Simon Hazani, who was ordained at the Schechter Institute in Jerusalem.
