* Newborn Ceremony of Blessing on Rosh Hashanah
Rosh Hashanah celebrates creation, so what better time than the beginning of the Jewish New Year to affirm the ongoing circle of life through our children. A special Ceremony of Blessing for children born since last Rosh Hashanah will take place in the sanctuary during the Musaf service on the first day of Rosh Hashanah, Monday September 14. Parents, grandparents and great-grandparents will rise to say the traditional Shehecheyanu of having reached this special day, at approximately 11:30 AM. All new parents, grandparents and great-grandparents are invited to participate. This year we will be presenting a MBIEE baby t-shirt and a specially imprinted “Sh’ma Yisrael” pillow case. Baby and parents need not be present to participate. Please call the MBIEE office at 215-635-1505 or email office@mbiee.org with your new addition’s name and birth date.
* * Tashlich Tradition
According to Jewish tradition, in the afternoon of the first day of Rosh Hashanah (if it falls on Shabbat, the second day) we gather as a community at a stream, brook or creek and symbolically reach into our pockets, remove crumbs and throw our sins away. Our Tashlich service will be held in the late afternoon on the first day of Rosh Hashanah, Monday September 14 at 5:00PM. Join our MBIEE community to recite the words and sing the songs of this unique and highly symbolic service. Join us at Wall Park, Church and Meetinghouse Roads. After our Tashlich service, we walk or drive to MBIEE in enough time to relax before Mincha, and then begin our evening service at 6:00 PM.
